Anywho there is a big field across the street from where I am currently living where many creatures of the earth preside. On more than one occasion I have run across quail, pheasant, various snakes, beautiful Monarch butterflies, and various small rodents. Of course this potential field party has attracted other visitors.
Just last year I had noticed a young hawk fluttering in mid air crashing the "party". Since this is a natural part of life for the hawk I wasn't too concerned. The winter passed and brought spring, summer, and then fall. One day I happened to let my dogs out and managed to see a large light blur streaking passed the window. Of course this peaked my curiousity so I opened the door to find my little dushound Aspen cowering in the corner. This happend a few times after the fact.
A few weeks ago I went to go take my dogs out again and found this hawk looking down for a meal in the front yard. I guess the phrase "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" would pertain to this winged creature.
P.S. For anyone wondering about the turkey's we still have three in the back ;)

Poor little pooch, I bet he has nightmares. I'm glad the birds in the back aren't leftovers.
